Day 19 of Advent

Feliz Navidad

Our Youngest brother “Little Caleb” (to distinguish from our “Big Caleb” now married to Brigette) loved this song growing up. Still Does! To be honest we all do. It reminds us of the years we lived in the Great State of Texas, deep in the heart in Ol’ San Antone. Even before our Texan adventures, our mother started a tradition of throwing a fiesta-themed birthday party for Jesus on Christmas Eve, complete with tacos and a piñata! Why fiesta? None of us know, not even her! Yet, it has become one of our most anticipated yearly rituals.

Scripture Reading for the Day

Matthew 1:18-21

18 The birth of Jesus Christ came about this way: After his mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, it was discovered before they came together that she was pregnant from the Holy Spirit. 19 So her husband Joseph, being a righteous man, and not wanting to disgrace her publicly, decided to divorce her secretly. 20 But after he had considered these things, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because what has been conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

Activity for Today

Birthday Party for Jesus

Throw a birthday party for Jesus! Make your plan now and invite some people. It can be as simple as fast food tacos and singing happy birthday to the Savior.

Celebrate Christmas cheer with refined Earl Grey, a dash of soothing lavender, and warm vanilla.

Let's spill the tea about Old Fashioned Birthday Cake...

Eloquent Description

Robust, imperious, and citrusy Earl Grey, Ceylon-sourced black tea leaves, bergamot, and cornflowers provide the pomp, while creamy vanilla and lavender turn it into an enchanting circumstance. Birthday Cake never simultaneously tasted so sumptuous, yet so sensible.

Ingredients

  • Ceylon Black Tea
  • Lavender
  • Corn Flowers
  • Bergamot
  • Organic Vanilla Flavor

Steeping Suggestions

For hot tea, steep one tea bag in 8 to 10oz of 212 water for 3.5 minutes. For iced, use half the water(same temp), steep for the same time, and add ice after you pull the tea bag out.

Someone Else's Thoughts

“This blend is so decadent. It’s quite a smooth flavor and somehow sweet (pure magic how you managed that!). The touch of lavender with the bergamot is divine. My preference for black tea is to be served hot, but this one is a treat cold as well. No need for any sweeteners.”

  • Fun Fact!

Holiday traditions are a big deal for us, and our mom always makes sure to invite anyone who doesn’t have someone to celebrate with. When our family moved to California, we didn’t know anyone and knew how it felt to be alone during the holidays, so now, we are always sure to find others who are alone during the holiday season to share our traditions with.

Our mom, after reading through this remembered that we began That’s how we began celebrating with Mexican food! After being surrounded by Hispanic culture in California—and later in San Antonio, Texas—it became a favorite.

Some years, we even grab fast food tacos to keep the tradition alive! Taco Cabana is our family's go-to, and we miss it so much from our Texas days!
