Westward Ho! Day 7: Back in "Buzz" and Grand Canyon Bound!

Westward Ho! Day 7: Back in "Buzz" and Grand Canyon Bound!

The hotel stay was a fun little detour (especially that pool!), but oh, were we all thrilled to get back to our cozy home-on-wheels, "Buzz," today! Being "stuck" in Albuquerque did give us precious extra time to visit with some dear extended family, savor more amazing New Mexican food (the chile is no joke!), and explore a few more local coffee shops. Every detour has its silver linings!

But the real hero of the day? The incredible mechanic who went above and beyond to rebuild our axle and get us back on the road by late afternoon! We are SO profoundly grateful for his hard work and kindness. People helping people – it just warms my heart. We made sure to leave him with some Piper & Leaf gratitude!
With "Buzz" all fixed up, we decided to stick to our original plan: a late-night drive to the GRAND CANYON! Yes, it meant a midnight arrival, but the thought of waking up surrounded by the majesty of our first National Park on this trip spurred us on. The scenery across New Mexico and into Arizona was absolutely breathtaking... until it got too dark to see!

Then, we just had to imagine the beauty whizzing by, thrilled to be back on our Westward Ho path. Can't WAIT to open our eyes to the Grand Canyon tomorrow! Sometimes those late-night pushes are totally worth it.
