Stories Behind the Blend: Pumpkin Moonshine

Stories Behind the Blend: Pumpkin Moonshine

This blend is one we get a lot of questions about, so first things first. Despite it's name, there is no actual moonshine in this blend. Pumpkin Moonshine is an old phrase for the 'jack-o-lantern' as well as the name of the first published book by one of our families most beloved writers and artists, Tasha Tudor.

This smooth black tea is lightly spiced and made with homegrown pumpkins. It reminds us of warm hugs, campfires, and autumn colors.

Early on with this blend, we discovered a "pumpkin" variety that really took this blend over the top. The Georgia Candy Roaster which is not actually a pumpkin at all, but another type of squash, is extremely sweet and flavorful. With the addition of the Georgia candy roaster to this blend, the taste was amazing. It didn't just taste like tea, it tasted like a traditional pumpkin pie, which was everything we wanted it to be.

Our friends up the road at Tate Farms grow us a fresh batch of pumpkins every year—right from a special field just for us! Around this time, you’ll find us at HQ, chopping and drying these strange pumpkins. They may look a bit odd, but they’re the secret ingredient to making Pumpkin Moonshine a cozy cup of pumpkin-spiced perfection. Because in our tea filled world, you should be able to eat your pie and drink it, too! With a splash of sweetener and cream, you can do just that and bring the warmth of Thanksgiving and all things fall straight to your cup.
