If Summer Days Had Signature Teas
Share
Summer in the South has never been subtle. One day, the trees are just beginning to bloom. The next, everything is lush and overflowing at once. The air becomes heavy, garden seedlings seem to grow a foot overnight, the cicadas sing their evening symphonies, and thunderstorms roll in without warning. You’re never quite sure what to expect from one hour to the next . . . except the humidity. You can always count on that!
And honestly, we tend to match the tea we’re drinking to the mood of the day. Some teas belong to blazing afternoons by the pool, while others are for rainy porch sitting and peaceful evenings outside. If summer days had signature teas, here’s what we think they would be.

Blue Sky Days
Forecast: Bright sunshine, barely a cloud in sight, and absolutely no one is interested in staying indoors.
There are some summer days that feel too pretty to waste. The sky turns bright blue, the breeze miraculously softens enough to cut the heat, and suddenly every errand starts sounding suspiciously like an excuse to stay outside longer.
These are the days made for Sweet Dixie. Bright, fruity, and tropical; it tastes like the kind of afternoon that ends with stained fingertips from fresh berries and grass clippings stuck to your shoes. It belongs beside picnic blankets, roadside fruit stands, and beach umbrellas. Sweet Dixie captures our favorite parts of the season.

Rainy Summer Afternoons
Forecast: Afternoon thunderstorms with a high chance of books and staying in your pajamas longer than planned.
Summer storms have a way of inserting themselves into the best laid plans. One minute the yard is buzzing with heat and noise, and the next the sky turns charcoal gray and cancels your pool trip.
Those are the days we usually sit back and settle in with a warm and comfortable blend. Old Fashioned Birthday Cake feels especially fitting here, with notes of vanilla, lavender, and black tea, steam curling up from the mug while the rain and thunder outside roll through. It makes a lovely companion for reading by the window or baking something simply because the weather feels right for it. Summer days like these require that cozy feel.
Hot & Humid Days
Forecast: 97% humidity and at least one person dramatically announcing, “I’m melting!”
Every Southern summer eventually reaches the point where stepping outside feels a little like walking directly into soup. Everyone starts searching for shade like it’s a competitive sport.
This is serious iced tea weather, the kind that calls for quart-sized mason jars packed embarrassingly full of ice. Lemon Berry Blush is a deserving companion for the hottest stretch of the season.
There is something deeply nostalgic about seeing condensation bead up along the side of an ice-cold mason jar. It brings back childhood memories of picking which droplet of water was going to make it to the bottom of the jar first.
Summer heat may be relentless, but at least it gives us a good excuse to keep the tea pitcher full at all times.

Pool Days
Forecast: Goggles strewn everywhere, wet footprints across the patio, and someone asking for snacks every fifteen minutes.
Pool days have their own rhythm. Towels draped over railings, the sound of splashing carrying across the yard, and popsicle wrappers mysteriously multiplying on every nearby surface.
These are the days for cheerful teas. Pipermint Blues feels especially at home beside the water. Something about the sparkling peppermint and the bright blue of the butterfly pea flower creates the perfect ensemble of summer refreshment.

Cloudy Days
Forecast: Warm breeze, soft clouds, and nowhere in particular to be.
Not every summer day is blazing with heat and enjoying water play. Some days, the clouds just decide to stick around for a while, and mom decides, "We're just gonna chill at home today!"
These are the days when imagination runs rampant. The kids put on costumes and play pirates while mom waters the herbs and gets some reading done. Healing Honeysuckle feels especially suited for slower afternoons like this, a delicious tonic infusing echinacea, jasmine, and chamomile.
Summer can be loud and lively, especially with the kids are home from school, but sometimes, these quieter, carefree days are the ones that stick out in our memories.
Gathering Days
Forecast: Folding chairs in the yard, a campfire crackling nearby, and friends showing up with casserole carriers.
We love a good get together, and summer evenings are perfect for family gatherings and cookouts. One person brings hot dogs to roast, someone else brings fixins and s’mores, and before long the backyard is full of conversation, citronella candles, and kids inventing games that involve flashlights after dark.
Front Porch Special was made for nights like these - smooth, nostalgic, and easy to share. This tea shines across picnic tables, camp chairs, and circles of friends.
Summer entertaining tends to feel a little less formal this time of year, and honestly, that may be part of what makes it so enjoyable. Nobody minds mismatched cups or melting ice when the evening breeze finally cuts through the heat and the fireflies begin showing up in the yard.

At the end of the day, summer tea is less about perfect pairings and more about enjoying whatever type of day you happen to get. Whether it arrives with sunshine, thunderstorms, or enough humidity to fog your glasses, tea somehow seems to fit right in beside it. We’d love to hear which blend ends up becoming part of your summer this year.
